Karol & Bill Strang – Brevard, NC
+$100,000 Renovation & Addition

Asheville Radio Group/Saga Communications Corporate Offices & Studios
The project included the renovation of an existing restaurant to accommodate new offices, large and small conference rooms and sound proof studio spaces to accommodate four independent radio stations.

Construction included a detailed and original wall construction to sound proof the new highly technological studio spaces. Each studio was connected to a control room with double windows. A new satellite pad was also designed in the corner of the existing lot to allow for future satellite expansion. An addition was added to the front and north side to allow for these new offices and studios. The spaces utilized existing window openings to allow natural light inside the spaces.

Asheville Radio Group has 105.9 The Mountain, 98.1 The River and ESPN Radio 1310/970 Big Wise.

Ace Hardware – Asheville
The project included the renovation of an existing shoe store to accommodate new offices and a large retail space to sell products.

Included in the construction were a new entrance in the front and two new entrances on the side of the existing building. The buildings existing interior construction was entirely removed to accommodate new toilet facilities and a new product storage area. Also included in construction were a new trellis and exterior shed roof to accommodate the future garden center.

The owners of the Weaverville Ace Hardware have expanded into Asheville with this their first store. The father and son team are exited about the future of this store and understand the need of such a retail space in North Asheville.

Biltmore Estate – Diana Bridal Building
The projects program included two large toilet facilities, a control room with adjoining work space, and a large brides room with adjoining private bathroom. A full basement for storage, cleaning and an additional employee toilet room were also included.

The site sits very close to the existing Diana Statue which faces the front entrance to the Biltmore Estate. The structure is hidden from view and nestles within a group of existing hemlock trees. The building does not disturb the existing landscape and was situated so that the removal of existing trees was minimal.

The first phase of construction included an expansive brick paved deck with spaces for tent placement to house large wedding/social parties. This building serves a vital function and gracefully fulfills the intentions of the owners.

The Biltmore Estate was permanently opened to the public as a house museum in 1956 and is a French Renaissance inspired chateau. It was built by George Washington Vanderbilt between 1888 and 1895. It is the largest privately owned home in the United States at 175,000 square feet and features 250 rooms.

Land of Sky Regional Council: Corporate Offices
Project Two included the renovation of an existing grocery store to accommodate new offices and large and small conference rooms.

Implemented in the construction were principals that made the building more environmentally friendly. Some of these applications included large glass windows in the South facing wall, six skylights located throughout the office space and sunlight shading devices on the existing East facing wall.

Land of Sky Regional Council is a non-profit organization that works with local governments and their agencies including volunteers and city/county officials to foster desirable social,
economic, cultural and ecological conditions in Buncombe County and several surrounding counties.
